[PCauto] Tesla recently rolled out a new feature called “Low Power Mode” through the 2025.32 software update, aiming to address the issue of battery depletion during long-term vehicle inactivity.

The feature is now deployed in approximately 14.3% of Tesla’s global fleet, covering all models including Model S, Model 3, Model X, Model Y, and Cybertruck.

Low Power Mode Will Disable Many Functions to Preserve Battery Power

According to Tesla’s official description, Low Power Mode can be enabled via the Control > Charging menu on the central touchscreen. Users can choose to activate it manually or set a battery percentage threshold for automatic activation.

When the vehicle detects that it is in a long-term inactive state and the battery level is low, the system will automatically disable features such as Sentry Mode, Summon Standby, Cabin Overheat Protection, and Scheduled Preconditioning, while maintaining basic cloud connectivity.

It is particularly noteworthy that when the vehicle is in a charging state, Sentry Mode will continue to operate, ensuring uninterrupted security monitoring.

Tesla vehicles can typically remain parked for weeks with a full charge while maintaining power stability. However, enabling high-performance monitoring features such as Sentry Mode significantly accelerates battery consumption.

The new feature reduces power consumption through an intelligent management system, aiming to maximize parking duration while maintaining basic connectivity features.

It is understood that the system still allows users to remotely access the vehicle through the mobile app and maintains automatic battery temperature management to ensure the core user experience remains unaffected.

Update 2025.32 Began Rolling Out on August 20

This update started rolling out gradually on August 20 and expanded deployment on August 25.

The same version update also includes improvements to Dog Mode, lowering the minimum temperature setting from the previous 21°C to 18°C, providing a more comfortable environment for pets. Additionally, the update includes multiple security patches and system performance optimizations.

The introduction of this feature mainly addresses the long-standing issue of battery drain in Tesla vehicles during extended parking periods. Especially for scenarios such as vacations or long-term travel, owners no longer need to worry about returning to a vehicle with a depleted battery.

Although Tesla has not specified the exact reduction in battery drain, the actual effectiveness will vary depending on the vehicle configuration, ambient temperature, and user settings.

The issue of long-term parking battery drain is not unique to Tesla; other electric vehicle brands face similar challenges. Perhaps other brands will soon follow Tesla’s lead with this update.

As of August 31, version 2025.32 is still being rolled out, and it is expected to cover more vehicles in the coming weeks.

Tesla owners can check the update status through their vehicle’s touchscreen or mobile app and are advised to download and install updates in a Wi-Fi environment for the best experience.
