The upcoming 8 Series Final Edition will mark the end of the current-generation BMW 8 Series (G15/G16), serving as a graceful farewell to one of the brand’s most elegant and powerful grand tourers.
Since its revival in 2018, the 8 Series has stood as BMW’s flagship GT model, showcasing the brand’s finest engineering and design. The M850i xDrive variant is powered by a 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 that delivers 530 hp and sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.7 seconds. Paired with BMW’s xDrive all-wheel-drive system and 8-speed Steptronic transmission, it blends grand touring luxury with thrilling performance.
For those seeking even more, the M8 Competition increases power to 625 hp and cuts the 0 to 100 km/h time to just 3.2 seconds. With M-specific active differential tuning and an integrated braking system, it delivers handling precision that rivals full-fledged supercars.
Underpinning this performance is a lightweight chassis made from aluminum and high-strength steel. Rear-wheel steering and adaptive suspension allow this 5-meter GT to corner with surprising agility while a drag coefficient of just 0.29 enhances high-speed stability.

Other highlights include 21-inch forged alloy wheels and a distinctive “Final Edition” badge, reinforcing the car’s exclusive character. Production is rumored to be limited to between 200 and 500 units globally, enhancing its appeal as a future collectible.
The BMW 8 Series Final Edition could become the brand’s last generation of purely gasoline-powered flagship GT models, bidding farewell to the traditional internal combustion engine era. The next generation of the 8 Series may transition to the i8 electric model in response to global environmental trends. Price predictions suggest a reference to the current M8 Competition’s base price of $140,000, with the limited edition potentially commanding a 10 to 20 percent premium, reaching $154,000 to $168,000.
