Porsche Motorsport is ready to surprise the GT racing arena with the launch of the newly evolved Porsche 911 GT3 R for the 2026 season. Built on the immense success of the current generation model, it gets refined aerodynamics, upgraded suspension, and superior drivability, making the driving easier for non-professional drivers while also maintaining its championship-winning capabilities.

Porsche 911 GT3 R: Most Successful Customer Race Car

Since its official debut in early 2023, the existing Porsche 911 GT3 R has been one of the most dominant race cars across the world, securing over 500 race starts, leading to several titles and victories. One of the noticeable wins for the 911 GT3 R was the unofficial GT3 World Championship for manufacturers in the Intercontinental GT Challenge.

The model also came in the news after sweeping all three GTD Pro classifications in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and securing six wins from eight races in Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie (NLS). Porsche 911 GT3 R has also secured consecutive class victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans against its eight rival manufacturers and has taken the inaugural Endurance Trophy for LMGT3 teams and drivers in the FIA World Endurance Championship.

Additionally, it has witnessed over 420 podium finishes globally, becoming one of the most successful customer racing platforms.

Porsche 911 GT3 R (Model Year 2026)

The evolved version of the 911 GT3 R focuses on minor but critical refinements to offer a more balanced and predictable driving experience. Some of the major changes include restyled aerodynamics with new louvres above the front wheel arches to lower pitch sensitivity under braking.

The 2026 911 GT3 R also has optimized double wishbone suspension for improved anti-dive profile and stability, as well as a revised swan-neck rear wing with a four-millimeter Gurney flap for enhanced downforce. The new model also features an enclosed and reinforced underbody and improved anti-squat geometry for better acceleration control.

Porsche has also made some driver-focused upgrades like electrohydraulic power steering with improved cooling for a consistent feel, ceramic wheel bearings for durability, and more straightforward driveshaft installation with dedicated air cooling via NACA ducts. Adjustable rear brake cooling and reworked cockpit air vent also maximize the racing performance.

Moreover, features like laser ride height sensors, track temperature sensors, rear view camera system, refueling detection sensors that were available as an optional package in previous generation models are now available as standard in the new-generation Porsche 911 GT3 R.

However, the special option is continued to be offered for series-specific needs, including IMSA, FIA LMGT3, or NLS configurations.

Under the hood, the 911 GT3 R packs a 4.2-liter flat-six cylinder engine producing 656 PS of power output. For existing 911 GT3 R customers, Porsche has announced that it will offer an update kit with the starting price of €41,500 (approx AED 178,550), allowing teams to upgrade their existing model to 2026 specifications without having to buy the new car.
