All-New Porsche 911 Turbo S to Debut in 2025 with First-Ever Hybrid System, Targeting Over 700 hp

[PCauto] According to the latest reports, the all-new Porsche 911 Turbo S, codenamed 992.2, is set to make its debut in the second half of 2025 and enter the market in 2026. This iconic sports car will introduce a hybrid powertrain for the first time, marking the beginning of the 911 series’ electrification journey.
The Core Hight: Powertrain Innovation
The base model is expected to employ a plug-in hybrid system that combines a 3.7-liter twin-turbo flat-six engine with an electric motor, paired with an upgraded 8-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission and an all-wheel-drive system.
In the Turbo S variant, this setup delivers a combined output of 640 horsepower, enabling a 0–100 km/h acceleration time of under 3 seconds. Even more notably, Porsche is reportedly considering an even more powerful version, replacing the current twin-turbo setup with a 3.6-liter single-turbo engine. This variant would incorporate T-Hybrid technology and a 1.9 kWh battery pack, with total system output expected to cross the threshold of 700 horsepower.
A Nod to the Iconic 911 Shape
The new 911 Turbo S continues the model line’s timeless silhouette while receiving a number of aerodynamic upgrades. Up front, it features a larger black air intake grille, while the front bumper introduces vertical louvered vents on both sides—an innovative design that adjusts automatically based on driving conditions to balance cooling efficiency and aerodynamic drag.
At the rear, the new model retains the sporty DNA of the current Turbo S, with a signature full-width LED taillight, an active rear spoiler, and a distinctive quad-exhaust setup—elements that collectively create a highly recognizable profile.
Inside the cabin, the new 911 Turbo S will feature a 10.9-inch central touchscreen and a fully digital instrument cluster. It runs the latest generation of the Porsche Communication Management (PCM) system, expected to offer expanded connected services while maintaining the brand’s traditional driver-centric layout.
Porsche Expands Hybrid Portfolio for the 911 Lineup
In addition to the Turbo S, the standard Turbo model will also receive a hybrid variant. Unconfirmed reports suggest that a future GT2 RS performance version could also adopt hybrid technology.
As part of Porsche’s broader electrification roadmap, the 718 Cayman/Boxster series is set to end production in October this year, making way for an all-electric successor, which will debut after the launch of the electric Cayenne. The EV Cayenne itself is expected to be unveiled later this year and enter the market in 2026.
The new hybrid 911 Turbo S is poised to compete with other high-performance hybrid sports cars such as the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E Performance. Backed by Porsche’s expertise in performance engineering and electrification, the model aims to redefine what a hybrid sports car can deliver in terms of driving experience.
