GT-R (R35) Ends Production in August 2025, Hybrid Could Arrive

【PCauto】The current Nissan GT-R (R35) will officially end production in August 2025, closing the chapter on an 18-year run since its debut in 2007. At the same time, details about the next-generation GT-R (R36) are starting to surface.
Hyper Force Could Shape the Next-Generation GT-R
Nissan revealed the Hyper Force concept at the 2023 Japan Mobility Show. Many saw it as a preview of the design direction for the next GT-R.

This all-electric concept car, powered by a solid-state battery, produces a staggering 1,360 horsepower. Its aerodynamic design was developed with input from the NISMO racing team.
The standout innovation is NISMO’s plasma actuator technology, which ionizes the air to optimize airflow during high-speed cornering.

Although Nissan says the concept isn’t a preview of any specific model, its circular quad tail lights and overall proportions clearly carry the GT-R’s DNA.

The Hyper Force concept features the e-4ORCE all-wheel-drive system and advanced aerodynamics, which could form the foundation for the next GT-R. Its innovative dual-mode driving system includes R Track Mode and GT Cruise Mode. In R Track Mode, the system monitors tire temperature and braking load in real time, while the adjustable electronic stabilizer bar makes track driving far more accessible.
Next-Generation GT-R Could Get Hybrid Power
A hybrid version with the VR30 engine could arrive in 2028, followed by a fully electric version based on Hyper Force technology around 2030. Nissan’s product planning director recently told the media that the company is continuously developing the next GT-R but did not share a specific timeline.

With the 2025 Japan Mobility Show coming in October, Nissan may unveil a concept car that’s closer to a production-ready version.
